Barton 6th on Bathurst Carrera Cup debutBathurst is the highlight of the season for any racing driver in Australia. The sensation generated along 6.2km of public road that winds up and down the side of Mount Panorama is like no other. To do it in a Porsche 997 Carrera Cup Car is truly amazing. In his first visit to Mount Panorama in a “Tin Top” Barton finished 6th in the final race of the weekend posting him seventh on points for the round. Race 2 on Saturday was a fully dry circuit. Barton made a great start and passed Rodney Jane. David Russell got passed into the chase on lap 1. A great battle developed with Jane with David Wall joining the mix. Jane dived passed Barton at Forest’s elbow on lap 4 which also gave Wall the opportunity to pass relegating Barton to 9th at the finish. Race 3 on Sunday morning brought perfect racing conditions. Barton put his head down and drove a strong race picking up the spots as some of the other drivers brought themselves undone. He crossed the line in 6th position less than one second behind 5th position. The final round of Carrera Cup is at Indy on the Gold Coast on 23rd-26th October. This meeting is renowned for its colour and great times for the fans. Racing the Porsche’s through the streets is a spectacular sight to see. Read pdf:
