Barton returns to Australian Formula 3

Barton has made an unexpected return to the Australian Formula 3 championship by racing at round 6 at Phillip Island on the 11/12 August.

The deal came about late with the Opes Prime team expanding to a two car entry in the championship alongside Englishman James Winslow. The growing team is proving a force to be reckoned with not only in Australian F3 but also in other categories. In a positive twist of fate Barton is racing in the very car that took him to pole and 2 commanding victories at the 2005 Australian Grand Prix F3 support races.

Barton looks to V8 Supercars

With the 06/07 A1 GP series now finished Barton has faced a crossroads in his career and has decided to shift his focus to stay at home and break into the V8 Supercars. Barton was unable to raise the finances to return overseas to continue his impressive international racing career which included runner up in the 2005 British formula 3 championship National class, a stint in America in champ Car Atlantics and successful testing for team Australia A1 GP team and inclusion in their driver line up.

BARTON CONFIRMED IN AUSTRALIAN A1 GP LINEUP

Barton Mawer has been confirmed as part of the Australian driver line up for the up coming 2006/2007 A1 GP season. The news comes after Barton produced an impressive debut performance at the official A1 GP 2 day test at Silverstone on 30-31 August. Barton put the Australian car 8th fastest out of the 20
nations present on the second day and the fastest sector 3 (the complex) of  the 20 nations.

BARTON FAST IN AUSSIE A1 GP TEST

Barton was impressive on his debut for Team Australia at the official season opening A1 GP two day test at Silverstone on 30-31 August.

Three of Austalia’s up and coming drivers Barton Mawer, Karl Reindler and Ian Dyk were there to be evaluated for inclusion in the A1 GP Series with Team Australia for the 06-07 season.  Having competed against each other in Formula 3 the test was also a reunion for the 3 drivers who all handled themselves well.
